Finished and loved 🎧 Malcolm Gladwell's "The American Way of Killing: The Invention of an Epidemic."
His thesis across 5 hours: America didn't inherit its gun violence epidemic — it invented it. He walks you from a shooting range in North Carolina to the South Side of Chicago to an old plantation house in Alabama, showing how the wealthiest country on earth ended up with a homicide problem that mirrors the poorest countries'.
Built out from his Revisionist History reporting, narrated by Gladwell himself. As an attorney, the part on how a 17th-century English knight's legal troubles shaped American gun control had me pausing just to sit with it.
Highest recommendation — if you listen to one audiobook this month, make it this one.
