If you are a VETERAN or ACTIVE DUTY, you are eligible for up to 4 FREE TICKETS to the Armed Forces Bowl. It will be played at TCU on December 23 at 2:30pm. It has been a really good game every time I’ve attended (around the last 10 years).
I’ve made this post public so you should be able to share if you want…

In the latest challenge to a field that critics call “junk dressed up as scientific analysis,” a Maryland law professor says the widespread misuse of forensic evidence deepens racial bias in the justice system. In a forthcoming paper, she calls for developing a new approach less weighted towards...

Today, I completed my first trial since December 2019. My client was accused of a terrible felony and faced a lifetime of consequences in addition to a possible 20 year prison sentence. I am thankful that I could craft an argument that convinced 12 Fannin County citizens that the State failed to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. While I will be thanked for doing a good job, I do not deserve the credit. So many people paved the way for this victory, so my heartfelt thank you to the following:
Thank you Nelda Altland for having enough confidence in my abilities to refer a friend (and for the ice cream cookies!!).
Thank you to Camryn Johnston Robbins for taking care of Lexie so I could leave town to concentrate.
Thank you Leah Roberts (not sure why it won’t let me tag her) for holding down the fort and keeping clients informed.
Thank you to Chelsi McLarty Cottle for basically shutting down her practice and spending a week in an itty bitty town to take notes and be the buffer between me and the client and family.
AND
An extra special thank you to Renay Fitch for the hours and hours of work on this case and keeping me focused on what the job was. Without her dedication and perseverance, I would NOT have been able to do my job. In my book, the MVP trophy goes to her.

Common sense prevails...

The governor's order prohibited judges from releasing some inmates without paying bail. The lawsuit filed Wednesday argued it violated the constitutional separation of powers and discriminated against poor defendants.

Today was LexLaw Day at the Fort Worth Stock Show. Sometimes, you have to get out of the office for a little while, log a few extra steps, and trade some of the BS we have to wade through for BS we GET to wade through. I am ever so grateful for my excellent staff - Leah and Renay!! They make my job so much easier!!
