New York City is on the verge of ending its longstanding horse-drawn carriage industry. On October 13, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin reached an agreement on legislation known as Romanchโs Law. The full City Council is scheduled to vote on the bill October 22, 2026.
๐จThe proposal states that no new licenses will be issued starting immediately. Existing operations would end by June 1, 2028.

Freedom is rarely lost all at once. It disappears one law, one ordinance, and one unnecessary ban at a time.
Every time a lawful animal enterprise is eliminated because of political pressure or ideology, we lose another piece of freedom that built this country.
If we don't stand up today for horsemen, ranchers, breeders, exhibitors, farmers, and all who raise, breed, and work with animals, future generations may never experience the freedoms we took for granted.
