π‘οΈ Protect Your Home: New Free "VADeed Alert" Now Available
At Safyre Law, we are committed to helping Virginia homeowners safeguard their most valuable asset. We are excited to share a new tool from the Virginia Court System designed to combat the rising threat of deed fraud.
What is Deed Fraud?
Deed fraud occurs when a criminal forges a homeowner's signature on a deed and records it in public records to "steal" the property title. Once they have control, they can:
Sell your home to an unsuspecting buyer.
Take out new mortgages or equity lines of credit (HELOCs).
Collect rental income on your property.
How does "VADeed Alert" Help You?
The VADeed Alert is a free, voluntary service developed by the Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia. It works similar credit monitoring, but for your home.
You receive an automated email notification the moment any document (deed, mortgage, etc.) is recorded matching your name or property ID.
While the system does not prevent a document from being recorded, it gives you the early warning needed to contact law enforcement or legal counsel before a fraudster can sell or further encumber your home.
Is it Available in Your Area?
We highly recommend checking if this feature is available for your property. It is currently active in several areas we service, including:
City of Bristol, VA
Tazewell County
City of Buena Vista
Rockbridge County
π How do You Sign Up?
Protecting your home is simple and free. Visit the official portal to register your name or Parcel ID:
