I have been surprised over the past few months of how many people want to know the answer to, “If Nikki wins this election, will you work for her?” I have answered it many times, and as June 20 approaches, the question has become more frequent.
The answer to the question is simple…..no, I will not be part of a Nikki Stiltner administration. The “why” is a lot more complicated.
First, as the old saying goes, “it takes two to tango.” I have been informed by a couple of sources close to Ms. Stiltner that I would not be welcome in her administration. In addition, she seems highly critical of our office, despite the fact that I have taken great pride in what I have accomplished in my time at the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. So, the answer to the question seems to stop there. However, because I believe in transparency to the public, I would be dishonest if I didn’t add that it is also not my desire to be part of a Nikki Stiltner administration.
Even though I believe in honesty and transparency, I also believe that I should not publicly disparage a fellow attorney, fellow Grundy High School alumnae, fellow University of Virginia alumnae, and fellow Appalachian School of Law alumnae. Despite it appearing that we share so many life experiences, this campaign cycle has shown me we are actually quite different.
My statement will end here, I will take up no more of your Facebook feed, and let you get back to posts and videos about this election that contain slogans, memes, and sound bytes that are more for your entertainment than providing you with actual facts.
It is my hope that I will continue to work in the Commonwealth’s Office and use my 16 years of trial experience to serve the citizens of Buchanan County. For those that would like to have a more in-depth conversation about my statement or would like to discuss what is potentially next for me and my family, please reach out, I would love to hear from you. I hope everyone who took the time to read this has a wonderful and blessed day.
