Congratulations to Main & Maxwell's, Kristen Bennett on being recognized as one of Greenwood’s Under 40 Stars! ⭐️
Kristen’s story is one of hard work, authenticity, creativity, and a genuine love for her community. In 2016, she walked into Main & Maxwell as an unpaid Lander University intern looking for experience and a few college credits. Today, she is the proud owner of one of Greenwood’s most recognizable small businesses — and, more importantly, has helped make it the community institution it is today.
Through her leadership at Main & Maxwell, Kristen has created opportunities for more than 60 local and regional artists, giving their work a platform and helping connect Greenwood residents and visitors with authentic, locally made art and gifts. She has grown the business while honoring the vision that made it special, bringing her own creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and unmistakable personality along the way.
But Kristen’s impact goes far beyond her business. From Empty Bowls and 4 The Love Of to Local Focal, the Uptown Merchants Association, the Arts Center of Greenwood, Lander University, and Greenwood’s music and creative communities, she continually gives her time, energy, and resources to help make Greenwood a better place.
What makes Kristen so special is that she leads by lifting others up. She creates opportunities for artists, encourages young creatives, supports fellow small businesses, and celebrates the people who make this community unique. And she does it all with the kindness, humility, authenticity, and occasionally awkward charm that make her so genuinely loved by those around her.
Her nominator shared, ''I had the privilege of watching Kristen grow from a quiet college intern into an incredible business owner and community leader — without ever losing the humility and heart that defined her from the beginning."
This recognition is so well deserved. Congratulations, Kristen! We are lucky to have you helping Uptown Greenwood shine. 💛✨
