When I say the real estate housing market is BANANAS, I mean it! And it’s not just in Colorado & Illinois. There is a nationwide housing inventory shortage and a massive influx of Buyers. The increase of Buyer demand is due to the interest rates being so low. This is a perfect example of the low supply and high demand concept that you learned about in Economics class. I’ve seen scenarios where a property listed for sale, received over 40 offers and had over 160 showings. Best part the winning bid was an all cash offer $100k over asking price with no appraisal! The back up offer was also $100k over offer asking with a $100k appraisal gap. Oh and the prices of new builds are going up, not just due to demand but there’s a lumber shortage!!! I’ve been blessed in that I’m always able to get my Buyer clients into homes. It’s hard work but we always make it happen. It may take a few offers but in the end they always land in a home that they love. And my Sellers always end with the best offer for their home. This place is CRAZY but I guess I’m a little crazy too because I LOVE IT HERE!!! To Martin, From Dolores

Dear Dr. King

It’s been almost 53 years since your assassination. Although I would love to say that we’ve accomplished your dream, unfortunately I must say that it’s still a work in progress. Some of us had convinced ourselves that we’d overcome the hurdles of racism, discrimination, supremacy, segregation, slavery and bias. We thought we had come so far and were almost at the finish line. However reality hit and it hit HARD! We’ve come to realize that we’re pretty much at the same place we were when you left. We had just become complacent and ignorant to our surroundings. Same game as before, they just changed some of the pieces. From systemic racism, creating for-profit prisons and implementing a system to intentionally fill them with us to killing us unjustly in the name of “justice.” We’re still in the trenches and we’re still being hunted BUT we’re still here!
We’re still here and we’re still fighting! We’re still here and we’re still marching!
We’re still here and we’re still voting!
We’re still here and we’re still making change!
However, We’re still here...
Im not sure that we will accomplish your dream in my lifetime. But I’m damn sure going to continue to fight for your dream to be a reality for my children, their children, their children’s children and so on.
While there are tons of pictures that depict you at the podium giving your speech, smiling with your family or in your famous pondering pose, I’m a realist and I choose to remember the reality of your fight. I choose to remind myself of the trials and tribulations you endured while trying to create a land of equality. I choose to remember you this way because I recognize that after 53 years WE ARE STILL HERE!!

Motivation Monday 2021
Today my motivation is gratitude.
I’m grateful that I am here and that I am able!
Yesterday I hiked for the first time EVER and I climbed this mini incline a couple times. Not only was I mentally and physically able to complete this task but I was able to do it with the people I love most in this world, my children.

May 2021 bring you an abundance of gratitude and motivation!

Joyous Kwanzaa Day 7

Tonight the final candle is lit on the kinara (candleholder). We will eat well and discuss the 7th and final principle of Kwanzaa which is Imani (Faith): To believe with all our heart in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders, and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.

Thank you for taking this 7 day journey with me. I truly hope you learned something new along the way and that you are able to implement these 7 principles of Kwanzaa into your new year.
