🚨 IF SOMEONE TRIES TO KIDNAP YOU: THESE TIPS COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE 🚨
Every situation is different, and no single response is guaranteed. Your priority is survival. Stay alert, think clearly, and act when the opportunity is in your favor.
✅ AVOID THE SECOND LOCATION
If a reasonably safe opportunity exists, escape, run toward people, make noise, and attract attention before you are forced into a vehicle or isolated building. A second location may give the attacker greater control. If a weapon is present or resistance would create an immediate deadly threat, use your best judgment—survival comes first.
✅ CALL OR TEXT 911
Give your location first. Describe the suspect, vehicle, direction of travel, and what is happening. Text-to-911 is available in many—but not all—communities.
✅ USE YOUR PHONE’S EMERGENCY FEATURES
Activate Emergency SOS, share your live location, or contact someone you trust if you can do so without being noticed.
✅ DO NOT RELY ON INTERNET MYTHS
Asking 911 for “a pizza” is not a guaranteed national code. Calling “55” will not automatically summon police or track your location in the United States.
✅ STAY CALM AND OBSERVANT
Remember names, voices, accents, tattoos, clothing, weapons, vehicle details, turns, travel time, sounds, smells, and landmarks.
✅ AVOID UNNECESSARY CONFRONTATION
If you are already being held, remain calm and avoid threatening, insulting, or unnecessarily provoking the captor. Preserve your physical and mental strength.
✅ LOOK FOR ESCAPE OPPORTUNITIES
Act when the kidnapper is distracted, help is nearby, or you have a clear path to safety. If locked inside a vehicle trunk, look for the glow-in-the-dark emergency-release handle.
✅ LEAVE EVIDENCE ONLY WHEN SAFE
Dropping a recognizable item or leaving fingerprints, hair, or other evidence may help investigators—but never risk immediate retaliation simply to leave evidence.
✅ DURING A POLICE RESCUE
Stay low, keep your hands empty and visible, avoid sudden movements, and follow every command. Officers may not immediately know who the victim is.
✅ AFTER ESCAPING
Call 911, seek medical attention, preserve messages and location data, avoid bathing or changing clothes when possible, and write down everything you remember.
Preparation does not guarantee safety—but it can improve your options during a crisis.
