Big changes are here for Triad landlords and property investors in 2026! 🌟

North Carolina’s new laws now let you require renter’s insurance from tenants (you just can’t tell them which company to use). If proof isn’t provided within three days, you can secure coverage for them and bill them.
There’s a new fast-track for removing unauthorized occupants: notice within 24 hours, hearings in 48, and four hours for occupants to vacate after court order.
Intentional property damage over $1,000 is now a felony in NC.
These state laws apply fully in the Triad, and property owners here are adapting quickly. Local groups like apartment association and management experts are actively helping Triad landlords stay ahead: so you don’t have to figure it out alone. Learn more online and check out local seminars.

If you’re 65+, have a permanent disability, or are a disabled veteran (or surviving spouse), you may qualify for exemptions that could save you thousands. Updates for 2026 expand eligibility and increase income limits to help more residents stay in their homes!
