The decisions came despite the Judicial Standards Commission’s recommendations to publicly reprimand the judges, and these are likely the only times in more than a decade in which the court didn’t follow the commission’s guidance.

Judge Donna Stroud, a Republican who has served on the court since 2006 and chief judge since 2021, was quietly removed from the most senior position on the appeals court Monday. She remains in her seat on the bench, but not as chief judge.

This morning, the sun rose in the east, just like it did yesterday.

Today is a new day, just like yesterday was.

I still have the same pending cases that I did yesterday.

I still have clients in jail, just like I did yesterday.

I have the same opportunity today to do my best, make a difference, & live life that I did yesterday.

The possibility of New Year’s Day is the possibility of every new day.

Not just the one new day that is celebrated because it symbolizes the start of the 365 day orbit of the earth around the sun.

That’s the beauty of each new day.

Don’t get hung up on the New Year frenzy.

It doesn’t matter how good or bad the last year was for you.

It doesn’t matter how good or bad yesterday was for you.

The only thing that matters is what you do with today.

And tomorrow.

And the next day.

If you stay ready, you never have to get ready.

Keep the energy.

Ration it if you have to.

This is a marathon, not a sprint.

It doesn’t matter what day the calendar shows: today is your chance.

Make the most of it. 🎊⚖️🏛️
