After a serious lower-leg injury during a professional sports practice, our client’s workers’ compensation claim was denied on the grounds that he was not covered under Maryland law—putting critical benefits at risk. Our legal team fought back with targeted motion practice and clear contract-and-employment evidence, securing a circuit court ruling that the client qualified as a covered employee. The employer then appealed, but in July 2026 the Appellate Court of Maryland affirmed the win and required the employer to pay appellate costs, keeping the coverage ruling intact and clearing the way for further proceedings on the claim. That result helped our client protect access to medical care and wage support, providing stability and a path forward after an unexpected injury.
