Every piece of correspondence — your interview appointment, a Request for Evidence, a decision on your case — goes to the address on file. If that's your old apartment, those notices are legally received.

Missing an RFE response window (87 days) typically means automatic denial. Missing an interview notice can trigger removal proceedings.

Update your address right now. uscis.gov → AR-11. It takes five minutes and could protect years of work.

She had been waiting 18 months for her green card interview. Then a family emergency happened — she flew home without thinking. No Advance Parole.

USCIS denied her I-485. Abandoned. Case closed. 18 months of waiting, gone.

This is one of the most heartbreaking mistakes we see — because it's completely preventable. If you have a pending I-485, file for Advance Parole before you book any international travel. Always.

The US immigration system caps green cards per country — not per applicant. So if you're from India, China, the Philippines, or Mexico, you're competing in a much smaller annual pool than everyone else.
