Tips to document maximize your Hurricane Claim:
Before the storm:
1. Take photos of your each side of your home including each roof section;

2. Find your homeowners insurance policy and the number to call to make a claim.
After the storm:
3. Take photos of damage;
4. Make temporary repairs to prevent the damages from getting worse.
5. Contact your insurance company directly (Do not call your agent to report the claim.
6. Keep records of all of your expenses.
7. Write checks, get receipts, and contact information for anyone you hire to make repairs.
8. Do not throw any damaged items away until the insurance adjuster arrives.
9. Get contact information of insurance adjuster who inspects property.
10. Do not give original documents to adjuster who inspects your home.
11. Don't sign a release.

An important part of any insurance claim is providing documentation of damages to building and contents. (personal property). This app from Liberty Mutual ,available to all, allows you to document the condition and contents of your home prior to the storm.

I highly recommend using this app or taking photos of your property and inventory of your personal property on your own.

Hopefully it won't be necessary but it will be of great assistance if needed.

3. The interior of your home, including ceilings

b. Store a copy of your insurance policy(ies) in a water tight container with other important documents
