WITH ALL OF THE DRAMA GOING ON IN THE ONLINE COACHING SPACE... CONTRACTS ARE A NON-NEGOTIABLE

I've heard several people complaining about the value they have received from coaches lately.

They feel like they signed up for one thing, and got something else.

Or they paid, and the coach disappeared completely.

It's too bad because in this online space - it's actually a pretty small world and reputation is everything for maintaining a profitable business.

Having contracts is super important so that everyone is clear on what each party is responsible for.

Contracts aren't only important on the coaches end - to make sure they receive their payment - but also on the client's end - so they make sure they are clear on what they are getting.

And when a contract is vague, doesn't specify the services clearly, is for an extended period of time, and doesn't have a termination clause... these are all red flags and should be taken into consideration prior to signing the agreement.

When there's a lot of money at stake, and when there's a lot on the line - like your business and your well-being, taking your time in deciding whether you want to enter into the relationship, and whether you want to sign the contract is completely reasonable!

And taking your time in making a decision does not necessarily mean that you are self sabotaging, allowing limiting beliefs to take over, or you're not ready to take the next step in your life or business....

YOUR NEXT GROUP PROGRAM - LEGAL TIPS

Group programs are an exciting way to reach more people, scale your business, and get creative about how you serve your audience.

With group programs in particular, it’s super important to have a contract in place with everyone in the group.

It’s doesn’t have to be complicated though.

You can get a Terms of Service document that you upload to the checkout area, and require people to agree to it prior to purchasing.

I also recommend that you post the terms in the Facebook group, so everyone can reference it if they have questions.

Some important issues that come up with group programs are:

Payment plans - if it’s a longer program, you are likely offering payment plans. How and when is everyone making payment?

Nonpayment - what happens if someone is unable to make a payment? Do they have to leave the group immediately? Do you give a grace period?

Cancellation policies - are they able to cancel halfway through the program?
