Mikayla joined SBBL Law in 2021, where she has grown a substantial criminal defense practice and developed a nationally-recognized specialty representing law enforcement officers in criminal and civil claims against them for alleged misconduct. Following her zealous representation as co-counsel for Grand Rapids Police Officer Christopher Schurr in a trial that captured national attention in 2025, Mikayla has been asked to speak at conferences around the country and write articles on police litigation.
