Summer on Lake Como is loud. Boats all day, every dock full, traffic backed up through downtown.

October is the opposite. The water goes flat, the color comes in along the shoreline, and you can walk the Shore Path on a Tuesday morning and pass maybe four people.

That's the version of the lake I'd actually book.

So through [October 31], both of my houses are open midweek at a great daily fee a night, and I dropped the minimum to [2] nights. You can take a Sunday through Wednesday without burning a whole week of vacation.
