Launching Dawson County’s new Self-Help Law Center! This station is set-up outside the entrance to the District Court office located in the Dawson County Courthouse. It is filled with forms needed for filing the most commonly used court documents. All the forms available are free to use and available online at courts.mt.gov/forms. The forms have been prepared by the Montana Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission and Montana Legal Services Association. These forms are meant to assist pro se litigants with navigating the court system. Just a few notes: the forms are prepared by outside organizations so those filing are still responsible for adhering to the local court rules (a copy is available at the station). Additionally, there is no one available to assist in telling you what form you need and how to fill it out: for legal advice, contact an attorney. Attorney contact information is available at the table.

The station is brought to you with the generous support of the Seventh Judicial District Court; the Clerk of Court’s Office; City/Justice Court; Treatment Court; the County Attorney’s Office; Dawson County; and the Montana Legal Services Association.

A big thank you to everyone who volunteered their time for this project. Your willingness to step outside the usual routine and participate made this effort possible. We know it’s a little silly—but that was part of the fun. Our goal was to show the human side of the people behind the system and to create something positive for our community. We hope the spirit of the project is received as intended: to connect, to humanize, and to bring a little joy. We appreciate everyone who helped make it happen.
