Three steps, every time you take the car in.

One. Book the appointment online and write out every issue you're having, then print it and keep it.

Two. At drop off, check that the repair order lists every single issue you put in that request.

Three. At pickup, check that each one was addressed. It doesn't matter how. "There's nothing wrong with it" still counts, as long as it's on the paper.

Don't show up unannounced, don't leave without a repair record, and don't let them work on the car without documenting the visit.

A low first offer isn't an insult. It's a test.

In this one the manufacturer came back without a buyback, called it their best and final, and waited. Countering on the day would only have moved us toward their number.

So we didn't. We'll do the work and go back for what the case is actually worth. We are not desperate for a settlement, and we're not going to compromise a client's recovery to close one today.

Hovanes is being sarcastic, in case the first line doesn't give it away.

Handling your own lemon law claim is a great idea if your priority is not hurting the manufacturer's feelings. It tells them you aren't willing to hire an attorney, you don't want to sue, and you won't be bringing in anyone who will push them toward a full refund or civil penalties. The outcome will be one they are happy with.
