“IT JUST GOT EASIER TO DEPORT YOU IF YOU ARE IN PROCEEDINGS…” The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) recently ruled that an alien was properly ordered deported by the immigration judge, who refused to grant a continuance to allow that alien to find an attorney. This ruling is important because many people in deportation/removal proceedings hope to delay or postpone their case by arguing they need time to find an attorney. The BIA ruled that a continuance to seek legal counsel does not constitute "good cause."
