Welcome aboard, Attorney Lamaj! 💼

Brian Lamaj recently joined us as a member of the Commercial Law and Real Estate Departments in our Glastonbury office.

Prior to joining the firm, Attorney Lamaj represented municipal entities and property owners in land use and municipal law matters, including appeals of planning and zoning commission and zoning board of appeals decisions, and zoning enforcement actions.

Attorney Lamaj is admitted to practice in Connecticut and serves as Membership Director of the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section. He is also a member of the Hartford County Bar Association. He graduated cm laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law.

We are so excited to announce the addition of Attorney April R. Merchant to the firm’s Glastonbury office!

Attorney Merchant earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University and her Juris Doctorate Degree from Suffolk University Law School in 2018. She brings her vast experience in estate planning, probate litigation, trust administration and elder law to BPS.

Attorney Merchant is licensed to practice law in Connecticut at the state and federal district court levels and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Today, one of our associate attorneys, Erik Scalzi, was admitted into the federal bar for the United States District Court, District of Connecticut. He was sworn in by the honorable Judge Omar A. Williams.

Attorney Scalzi’s main areas of practice include personal injury, workers’ compensation, and employment issues. With this new distinction, Attorney Scalzi intends to pursue more complex litigation matters that involve violations of federal labor standards, employment discrimination and other constitutional violations.

BPS honors the memory of Attorney Michael Keenan, a respected and invaluable member of the Glastonbury community. Attorney Keenan passed away on June 3, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Attorney Keenan founded Keenan Law in South Glastonbury almost three decades ago, helping families navigate estate planning, elder law, probate, and special needs planning. His commitment to and thoughtfulness for his family, work, and passions will be missed.
