In a town infamous for high energy bars, Dewey Beer Co. is a spot we point people toward when they want to sit down, refuel, and actually stay a while.
For our series, we stopped in to chat with Lo Tibbets, the self-described Jane of all trades at Dewey Beer Co.
First opened in 2015, the Dewey Beach location launched a group that now includes a main production facility and taproom in Harbeson, two Pizza Machine locations, and sub-brands like their non-alcoholic Hop Tide line.
The Dewey Beach location is now for experimental brewing, most beers made here are one-offs you may not see again. Their core offerings like Swishy Pants, a crisp hazy IPA, El Trono, a refreshing Mexican lager (pro tip: ask for a lime), and their Secret Machine line of fruited sours are all available here, but they also keep limited release and experimental beers on tap and available for purchase, like Strawberry Pretzel Salad, a yearly release dropped on, you guessed it, Strawberry Pretzel Salad Day.
Even from the outside, the warm feel is evident. Glass garage doors open on warmer days, outdoor seating usually host to a few dogs enjoying the sun, weathered wood paneling and exposed beams inside, warm lighting, and walls covered in local art. Then you take a look at the menu. It has the shareable and handhelds you’d expect from a brewpub alongside delicious lo meins, fried rice, and rotating kitchen specials. It’s comfort food that isn’t boring, built to fuel you up for whatever the night in Dewey has in store — even if that’s an early bedtime after a day on the beach.
At The Parker Group, we love the businesses that give a community its real texture. Dewey Beer Co. is one of those spots worth knowing about before you arrive, and worth remembering when you’re planning lunch, dinner, or just want a cold beer. 🍻
