As a result of recent world events, we at the Law Office of Christy M. DeMelfi, PC, want to reach out to the people in the communities we proudly serve. We are so thankful to the essential employees that are still going into work each day and putting their lives and the lives of their families on the line each and every day. As a small token of our gratitude, our firm is offering a free Living Will, Power of Attorney, and a Health Care Proxy to any doctors, nurses, aides, police officers, fire fighters, first responders, and truck drivers. We are offering these services for anyone in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the New York City metro area.

These documents allow the people risking their lives every day to make proper planning for themselves and their families’ future. We understand how serious decisions relating to health care and finances may become if you are no longer able to express your own wishes and how critical it is to have these documents in place should anything happen to you. Our staff is there to help you every step of the way and will provide answers to any questions you have regarding these tough decisions. We want to thank each and every essential worker that is continuing to work and provide services and care to their community despite the risk during this pandemic. We wish we could extend this service to every one deemed essential, but we simply do not have the capacity to do so.

The U.S. Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service just launched a new web tool allowing quick registration for federal recovery checks under the CARES Act for those who don’t normally file a tax return.

The automatic payments should begin next week and I have heard some people see a “pending deposit” in their account already set to clear on the 15th. Also next week, a second tool is expected to be available to provide the status of payments and will it will also allow eligible taxpayers to enter bank account information to receive their checks by direct deposit.

Steps to receive the Economic Impact Payment if you haven't filed a tax return for 2018 or 2019, and aren't receiving Social Security, SS Disability Income or Railroad Retirement benefits. This payment is also referred to as "stimulus checks" or "coronavirus relief."

Good morning all. As many of you know, my firm has offices in several states and we proudly help clients who live throughout them all.

Due to various state (both NY and PA) and federal mandates that have been issued in response to the current health crisis, our physical locations will be closed until such mandates are lifted. This is being done to ensure the health and safety of our clients and our staff and their families.

Our attorneys (Christy and Alex) will continue to work from home, as will some of our staff. People should be aware that if you have an upcoming Court date, please reach out to us because it has likely been rescheduled. Many Courts are only hearing only “emergency” cases now and there are new directives from the powers that be in the Courts every day.

Unfortunately without staff in the offices, this means most call will go to voicemail. Messages however will be checked at least once per weekday. When calling us, please let the phone ring for quite some time as the calls are routed to several locations before the voicemail. You will eventually get a voicemail though. You only need to call one of our numbers as all the voicemails go into one location.

Our attorneys or other staff will try get back to you as soon as possible, but email is the best way to reach us as it can be better monitored. Our main email is: [email protected].

Please keep in mind that responses to emails may be slower due to increased volume, but every client is important to us and we will respond as quickly as we can.
