What Employers Need to Know about Amendments to New York State’s Trapped at Work Act

The New York Trapped at Work Act (NY Labor Law §§1050 et seq.) (the “Act”) prohibits employers from requiring employees or potential employees to sign “employment promissory notes” or other similar provisions as a condition of employment. Earlier in 2026, Governor Hochul signed an amendment to the Act, to narrow its applicability and suspend its effectiveness to allow employers time to comply with the Act.

Jaspan Schlesinger Narendran LLP is proud to participate in this year’s community book drive supporting the The Long Island Museum’s annual Pages & Pictures Book & Art Fair.

Help us stock the fair by donating your gently used or new books.

➡️ First book drop off is Sunday, August 23, 10am and 1pm

How to Donate:

Small donations, 20 books or fewer, may be placed in the drop box at the LIM Visitors Center during regular hours.
