Sharing this NYT story on the drop in Navajo Nation tourism (link above). It’s not just “numbers” it’s guides, artists, drivers, and families who feel it first.

NYT did quote Bobby Martin, identified as a Tourism Department manager but I still want to hear clearly from department leadership: what’s the plan, where are the tourism dollars going, and how is it helping local operators?

From what I’ve seen over the years, tourism can get cutthroat fast and without transparency, greed and gatekeeping win. What are you seeing on the ground?

The red sandstone buttes and rugged expanses of Monument Valley, in the Navajo Nation, have long invited visitors from around the world.
