John Patrick Strupe, a partner in the firm’s probate and estate planning section, joined the firm in 2018 after earning his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida. As a Certified Public Accountant, John worked in various accounting roles for both large public companies and small
privately-held businesses. After several years in the accounting profession, he attended law school at Georgia State University, where he earned his law degree.

During law school, he clerked for a law firm in Buckhead and specialized in viatical settlements, general corporate law, and choice-of-entity formation. After graduation, he worked as an associate at a boutique tax law firm in downtown Atlanta for three years, where he specialized in estate planning and wealth transfer, taxation, business succession, probate, asset protection, and business planning. During this time, John assisted clients with specialized tax-saving techniques for exporting businesses and captive insurance companies.

One common misconception is that everyone in Georgia needs a trust. In reality, that's not always the case. For many people, the probate process is relatively straightforward and doesn't require a trust.

However, complications can arise when there are will contests, creditor claims, procedural hurdles, or other unique circumstances. Every situation is different, so it's important to understand your options before making estate planning decisions. If you have questions about probate or need assistance with estate administration, we're here to help.
