MEET RENIYAH AND RAY’SHAUN, LOCAL YOUTH AWAITING ADOPTION!

Ray’Shaun is a young teen who describes himself as introverted and neat. He has plenty of old-school interests and would one day like to attend the University of Florida. In terms of an adoptive family, Rayshaun envisions a nurturing, calm environment with both a mother and father figure, preferably in an urban setting, as he thrives in bustling cities and enjoys participating in various family and community activities.

His younger sister Reniyah is a bright and vibrant 11-year-old who enjoys shopping and the colors pink and purple. She is described as studious, organized, and very attentive to detail. She hopes for a family with both a mother and father figure, as well as other children to share companionship and connection with.

It has been a wonderful and fulfilling week participating in the Florida Adoption Council 2024 conference and Florida Bar Adoption Law certification committee. My cup is full after spending time with colleagues that I value and admire.

I am so proud of Amanda Rush. It takes a lot of courage and dedication to go back to college after having two children and working full-time. Amanda not only graduated but she did it with top grades and is going to law school in the fall. I am so happy for her, but I’m also happy for my profession to have a colleague with the intelligence, work ethic and professionalism that Amanda possesses. YOU DID IT!!!!

Wow-I remember posting this story 10 years ago when this brave young man made his pleas to be adopted. This is an incredibly beautiful and inspiring story.

Ten years ago, a foster child stood up in church and pleaded for someone to adopt him. Today, he walked up to accept his college diploma with his family cheering him on.
