ICYMI: car thefts are "trending" across Central Ohio including Gahanna. Due to a USB "hack" and social "challenges" Kia and Hyundai vehicles are especially vulnerable.
Tips to avoid becoming a victim:
🅿️ in a garage if at all possible, door down!
🔒 the steering wheel with a Club or other interior locking device (if you're under 35, Google it!)
👁 keep items of value out of your car completely (not just out of sight)
#️⃣ make sure you have your VIN written down somewhere easily accessible
💲 make sure your auto and homeowners (or renters) policies are current and know if auto theft is covered and your deductible
If you are a victim of car theft, report it to the police and know that you can apply for compensation through the Ohio AG's Victim of Crime Compensation Fund.
