🚡 205th out of 1,252 entries. 205.9 miles. Peanut butter mud. Done.

This weekend I lined up at Unbound Gravel in Emporia, Kansas β€” the hardest gravel race in the world. What we got was one of the most brutal editions in the event's history.

Sticky overnight mud that clogged everything. Flooded underpasses. Rain on race day. And around mile 140... we were wading through thigh-deep water carrying our bikes.

6 months of training. Hundreds of hours in the saddle. Every early morning before the office opened.

11 hours, 56 minutes. 10,062 feet of climbing. Longest ride of my life.

It's checked. βœ…

If you've ever thought about doing something that scares you β€” start training. The finish line is worth every ugly mile in between.

With the recent uptick in e-bike popularity among teenagers in Fuquay-Varina, it's no surprise that safety concerns are bubbling up in our community. Just last week, a local teenager was injured in an e-bike crash, prompting conversations about the potential need for more regulations to keep our roads safe. Lauren Lovette, the teen's mother, made a compelling point about the need for stronger measures, especially considering that neighboring Holly Springs has already approved an ordinance to address e-bike safety.

As we embrace these new forms of transportation, let's remember to prioritize safety. Whether you're a parent or an e-bike enthusiast, it's vital to stay informed about local laws and encourage responsible riding habits. Make sure your child is equipped with a helmet, understands the rules of the road, and is aware of their surroundings.

How do you feel about e-bike regulations in our area? Let's start a conversation about keeping our community safe while enjoying these exciting new rides!

🚨 GAME NIGHT β€” LET'S GO CANES! 🚨

The Hurricanes head to Montreal tied 1-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals after Ehlers sent us home happy with an OT winner in Game 2 Friday night. πŸ™Œ

Game 3 is TONIGHT at 8pm ET on TNT β€” and the road doesn't scare this team. Carolina already swept TWO series to start these playoffs (first team in NHL history to do that). They know how to win anywhere.

Go get 'em, boys. Bring the Cup home to Carolina. πŸŒ€πŸ’

What a beautiful Memorial Day weekend we had here in Fuquay-Varina! We hope everyone enjoyed the time spent honoring our brave veterans. As we transition into summer, it's a good reminder to brush up on our traffic safety tips. With more families hitting the roads for vacations and outdoor adventures, let's all commit to being extra cautious behind the wheel.

Remember, the warm weather brings out more pedestrians and cyclists, especially in our community parks. Always yield to them at crosswalks, and keep an eye out for children who might be riding their bikes or playing near the streets. A moment of awareness can prevent accidents and keep our loved ones safe!

So, as you head out this summer, let's all do our part to drive responsibly and keep our roads safe for everyone. Have any tips or experiences you'd like to share? We'd love to hear from you!

We were saddened to hear about the recent incident involving a Wake County high school student found with a loaded gun on campus. Such situations remind us all of the importance of staying informed about local laws concerning fi****ms and school safety.

As part of our community here in Fuquay-Varina, it's vital that we discuss these tough topics openly. If you're a parent or guardian, having conversations with your children about safety, responsibility, and the serious consequences of bringing weapons to school can make a difference. Understanding the legal implications is crucial, not just for the child involved but for the entire community.

Let's make sure our kids know they can come to us with any concerns they might have. Knowledge and communication are key to fostering a safe environment for our children. What are your thoughts on how we can support our local schools and keep our kids safe?
