π΅ 205th out of 1,252 entries. 205.9 miles. Peanut butter mud. Done.
This weekend I lined up at Unbound Gravel in Emporia, Kansas β the hardest gravel race in the world. What we got was one of the most brutal editions in the event's history.
Sticky overnight mud that clogged everything. Flooded underpasses. Rain on race day. And around mile 140... we were wading through thigh-deep water carrying our bikes.
6 months of training. Hundreds of hours in the saddle. Every early morning before the office opened.
11 hours, 56 minutes. 10,062 feet of climbing. Longest ride of my life.
It's checked. β
If you've ever thought about doing something that scares you β start training. The finish line is worth every ugly mile in between.
