There is nothing quite like the smell of almond dust kicking up on the west side.
I was out near the San Luis Water District this morning.
A few longtime growers and I were leaning on a tailgate, sipping coffee and watching the sun come up over the trees.
The big talk right now is how the recent shifts in almond prices are changing the conversation around family land.
It is wild to see how the price of a single nut can ripple through our community and shift what a beautiful orchard is worth.
To me, these orchards are never just about per-acre sales data on a spreadsheet.
They represent the blood, sweat, and legacy of the families who have worked this soil for generations.
I love this farming community and the deep roots we have here in the Central Valley!
What is your favorite memory of growing up around the orchards here in Fresno County? 🚜🌳
