Let's go through a quick checklist together before storms start knocking on our door:
1. Outdoor items secured? Trash cans, trampoline (also known as the Alabama State Bird, fun fact), tarps, etc.
2. Tree debris from the ice cleaned up and not hanging loose in your trees?
3. Do you have multiple ways to receive warnings just in case you go under one tonight? They need to be the kind that will WAKE YOU UP because Mother Nature is putting on a night show this go-around!
4. Safe place: do you know where it is and do you have it ready, just in case?
A line of strong to severe storms will move through tonight. The latest on timing is attached. Find your section on the map and see the window of time for greatest severe impact. Now listen...The primary threat tonight is damaging straight-line winds, potentially in excess of 75 mph. We do have a tornado threat, too, but we want to stress that the type of straight-line winds possible tonight can produce just as much damage as a low-end tornado, so please take all warnings seriously!
It's March in Tennessee. We know how this works. Say it with us...Be prepared, not scared. You said it, right? We trust you did. Just keep up with things tonight and we'll get through it together. Then it will be really cold again Monday. Goodness....It's DEFINETLY March.
