Safety Checkpoint Announcement-Frankfort, KY

May 6, 2026

(Frankfort, KY) - The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the Month of May 2026.

During the checkpoints, deputies will be enforcing laws related to operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, operator’s license, registration and insurance violations, seat belt and child restraint violations, and motor vehicle equipment violations. Furthermore, deputies will be focusing their efforts on distracted driving (texting while driving) incidents.

Traffic Safety Checkpoints are a valuable tool used to promote the safety and well-being of the public as well as providing police with visibility and interaction with the community.

Checkpoints are utilized throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky to help promote highway safety.

Frankfort Drama presents Gossamer by Lois Lowery. This show opens today at 7:30 PM and continues on Friday May 8th, and Saturday May 9th also at 7:30 PM. It closes with a matinee on Sunday, May 10th at 3 PM. The production will be held at the Karen Kimmel Hatter Theatre at Frankfort High 328 Shelby Street
