Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan—
The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
a light has dawned.
You have enlarged the nation
and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest,
as warriors rejoice
when dividing the plunder.
For as in the day of Midian’s defeat,
you have shattered
the yoke that burdens them,
the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor.
Every warrior’s boot used in battle
and every garment rolled in blood
will be destined for burning,
will be fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
Isaiah 9:1-7
Merry Christmas from your friends at Anderson Law Firm. We are grateful for another year of service to our community, and we are grateful for you!
We are in the business of helping people with their things: organizing them, protecting them, and providing legal platforms by which those who care may be good stewards over those things.
It is truly a blessing to be able to serve our community in this regard and, God willing, we will continue to do so for years to come.
My prayer for you (and me) is that we not let our desire for good, God-given things (a comfortable home, nourishing food, enough money to have choices) and our natural desire to protect them to turn into idolatry. That’s a fine line, and something for us all to ponder as we begin a new year.
2025 has brought its challenges, and it brings exciting (and bittersweet) news.
Our dear friend and colleague, Mahlon Cameron, has left our office effective January 1 in order to focus on raising her two young sons. And we are glad that she is able to do that, as her children will no doubt benefit from that change. But we miss her already.
In other news, we also added two new team members: David Clark and Jillian Fletcher.
Dave is coordinating our new in-house technology initiatives, integrating new internal automations and artificial intelligence that will enhance our clients’ experience and enhance our quality control going forward. Be on the lookout for a lot of news from us on that front in the weeks and months ahead.
A lot of you already know Jillian. She has been with us for a couple of months now and has been a pleasure to have in the office. She starts law school in the fall – hopefully we can keep her around so that I have a good answer for you all when you ask me “but what happens when you die, James?”.
We’ve been radio-silent for quite a while, and that was not intentional. We’ve just been busy. But you will hear a lot more from us soon.
Grateful for you,
James
