For a long time I’ve had concerns about how certain cases end up before Chief Judge O’Connor. It’s not a good look for federal court in Fort Worth.

Fort Worth Federal Judge Mark Pittman actually tried to transfer some cases that appeared to be forum shopped to Fort Worth but the Fifth Circuit told him he had to hear the case even though the case had little to do with Fort Worth.

Reforms are necessary to stop this kind of forum shopping. The Fort Worth federal court docket is too busy to deal with political pet cases.

For years, conservative litigants flocked to Judge Reed O’Connor’s district. Now, North Texas has become a favorite destination of the Justice Department.

Statement by Ms Alzubi’s lead counsel Gadeir Abbas, CAIR Deputy Director of Litigation, regarding Judge Pittman’s decision to not reinstate Ms Alzubi as Principal of Western Hills High School:

“The reason the court ruled against us is because, after Shayma sued, district officials ended their investigation, raised her salary, and offered her a position they've publicly described as a promotion. We disagree with the outcome but are heartened by the district's internal decision to vindicate Shayma from the hateful accusations made against her online.

The decision, however, does not mark an end to this case or our client's passion to serve as principal. Both will continue, until Shayma's ongoing quest to be a principal in the community she loves succeeds.”

Honored to serve this servant of FWISD families.

We look forward to vindicating Ms Alzubi’s First Amendment Rights in a trial.

One of the big reasons I became a lawyer was my house burned down when I was a kid. When the house was on fire, my father rushed back in to get some supposedly important papers. A firefighter gave my dad his fire helmet. Right after my dad got back outside, the roof caved in. My parents had to file a lawsuit to get the house rebuilt.

Firefighters risk their safety for our safety. They deserve to be given security for their sacrifice.

C’mon Fort Worth, treat the FW Firefighters right.

Our firm has been retained as local counsel for FWISD educator Shayma Alzubi in her suit asserting First Amendment retaliation by FWISD.

As an attorney and a FWISD parent, Jason Smith is proud to stand with a great Fort Worth educator of children who has the courage to stand up to the misguided and often unlawful approach of FWISD after it was taken over by Governor Abbott’s administration.

Hopefully Principal Alzubi’s stand will help change the direction of FWISD for the better.

Shayma Alzubi’s new filing says FWISD offered her a district-level job days before naming an interim principal at Western Hills.

The Law Offices of Jason Smith celebrates PRIDE Month to show our support and respect for LGBTQ folks and to acknowledge that LGBTQ folks still experience discrimination and exclusion in Tarrant County, our nation and the world.

Jason’s Christian beliefs are at the core of his commitment to make sure LGBTQ folks are treated with respect and have the same opportunities as anyone. It’s what Jesus would do.

If you are scared of or dislike LGBTQ folks, PRIDE Month is a good time to examine why that is and resolve to treat everyone with respect.

And of course, if you fire someone because they’re gay or trans, you are violating federal and state law and you are risking getting sued by someone like us. So don’t do it.

Elon Musk and Sam Altman have been shown to have trustworthiness and credibility problems in the Open AI trial going forward in Oakland, California.

And these are the people shaping AI?

No wonder people are leery of AI.

The trial pits two of tech's most famous personalities against each other and could lead to seismic changes for the maker of ChatGPT.
