Drug Possession as a Minor: What You Should Know
Special drug possession rules apply to minor defendants. Drug possession is a serious offense at any age. If the defendant is under 18, some special rules apply that, in many respects, make these offenses even more serious. Although under-18 drug possession cases are almost always juvenile justice matters, drug possession under 18 in Texas can still lead to severe legal consequences.

Therefore, only the most experienced Ft. Worth criminal defense lawyer should handle such matters. In Tarrant County, driving is usually not a luxury option. It’s an everyday necessity. A Ft. Worth criminal defense lawyer helps keep you on the road.

Do Texas Courts Favor Mothers over Fathers?

Technically, state law is neutral on this subject. In fact, the Texas Family Code expressly states that both mothers and fathers have equal rights in every way. Practically, however, the tender years doctrine lingers. This informal presumption, which goes back to 1881, states that mothers should always get custody of young children of tender years, normally with no questions asked. Fathers must overcome this bias, especially in custody matters.

Changing the Custody Agreement in Texas
Custody changes are almost inevitable in Texas. Agreements regarding legal custody (making important decisions for a child) and physical custody (determining a child’s residence) must be in the best interests of the child. These two kinds of custody usually overlap. Best interests are not set in stone. Instead, the best interests of a child change over time. So, as a rule of thumb, family courts should at least reconsider custody agreements at least once every three or four years.
