You've had a few at the barbecue and the car keys are staying in your pocket. But what about the golf cart? The bike? The horse?

Texas settles all three with one definition. A DWI requires a motor vehicle, and the Transportation Code means something self-propelled, expressly excluding anything moved only by human power. A horse is a living animal, so it is not a DWI, and a bicycle is human-powered, so it is not either. A golf cart, an ATV and a motorcycle all count, and a first golf cart DWI carries the same Class B misdemeanor, the same jail exposure and the same license suspension as a DWI in a car. E-bikes and scooters sit in the gray area, where the answer turns on whether a throttle alone moves them. Why does community service matter so much to personal injury attorney Damian Williams?

It starts with how he was raised.

Born in Southern West Virginia. Raised mostly in Los Angeles.

Appalachian at heart, like his parents.

Texas daycares answer to state minimum standards on staffing ratios, training, and safety, and claims usually trace back to a failure of one of them: too few adults in the room, a staff member nobody screened, defective equipment, or a hazard left in place. Watch for what a parent can actually see — unexplained bruises, a new fear of one particular staff member, a child regressing on skills they had already mastered. More than one party can be liable: the owner, the staff involved, an outside contractor, or the company that made the equipment. From fried Oreos and Hot Cheeto pizza to giant stuffed animals and the Sling Shot, it was a day full of laughter, adrenaline, and plenty of memories that we’ll be talking about until, well, the next Firm Field Trip. 🎢❤️
