Julie Sherman is a multiple award-winning, board-certified paralegal for Partners Jordan Parker and Joshua Ross, as well as the firm’s Paralegal Coordinator.

June marks her 30th year with Cantey Hanger. She has seen a lot and accomplished more.

Reflecting on the most significant changes the last 30 years, she said, by far, the biggest change is technology. Going from stacks of paper and the use of the U.S. mail to electronic copies, paperless files, email and AI.

Her involvement in local and state paralegal organizations spans more than 35 years. She has been a member, an officer, a committee chair, a volunteer and a mentor. In addition to the Fort Worth Paralegal Association and Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas, Julie is a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association, the College of the State Bar of Texas, and the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas. She is also heavily involved in local pro bono work.

"There is no easier or better way to give back to your community than by using the skills and education you already have. Step up; you will not regret it,” she says.

Today, she serves as First Vice President, Programs, for the Fort Worth Paralegal Association, Co-Chair of the Tarrant County Volunteer Attorney Services Pro Bono Committee and Chair of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas Pro Bono Committee.

She received the FWPA Paralegal of the Year (2006), the SBOT - Paralegal Division Exceptional Pro Bono Service Award (2012-2013), the Tarrant County Young Lawyer’s Liberty Bell Award (2014), the Texas Young Lawyer’s Liberty Bell Award (2014), the SBOT Pro Bono Support Staff Award (2020) and the Tarrant County Bar Foundation’s Paralegal Pro Bono Volunteer Award (2013, 2021 & 2024),

Julie, thank you for all you do — for staff, for attorneys and most of all, for your profession.

Partner Joshua Ross and Managing Partner Brian Newby represented Cantey Hanger as one of just six U.S. law firms attending the International Fraud Group (IFG) meeting in London. "It was a tremendous opportunity to meet with international partners to examine the latest in Fraud Detection, Asset Recovery and Enforcement," Newby said. "The connections made enable us to provide resources and assist clients globally."

Partner Ryan Nordhaus, second from right, was a co-presenter with Lauren Melhart, the Associate Judge of the 360th Judicial District Court, Tarrant County, at the recent Family Law Essentials Seminar in Sherman.

Their topic was "Low Net Worth Divorces" -- how to effectively represent clients with a low net worth estate (not necessarily low income) by incorporating time and cost saving strategies to bring cases to resolution quickly and efficiently.

We're thankful for the opportunity to share knowledge and appreciate the time and effort our attorneys give back to the legal profession.
