Domestic violence is a serious crime. It’s also more common than you may realize. If you have experienced, or you are experiencing, domestic violence, you need a reliable domestic violence attorney in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Scott A. Levine, P.A. can assist you in obtaining an injunction or restraining order and protecting your children from the abuser. You don’t have to go through this difficult situation on your own.

If you have been accused of domestic violence and are faced with the prospect of a restraining order or criminal charge, Scott A. Levine can provide aggressive representation to defend you. Allegations of domestic violence are taken very seriously by judges. Such allegations can impact the judge's decisions regarding children's issues, including custody and parental decision making. It’s important to have a knowledgeable and experienced domestic violence attorney on your side.

In Florida, if a parent has been convicted of a domestic violence charge, felony or misdemeanor, the judge can strip that parent of the right of shared parental decision-making authority thereby effectively preventing that parent from being involved in significant decisions involving his or her children. If this happens to you, you’ll likely face reduced, or even supervised, timesharing with your children. Even if there is no conviction, the judge will still consider any evidence of domestic violence, or child abuse, presented to the court in resolving the issues relating to the children. Hire a reliable domestic violence lawyer in Fort Lauderdale, FL today.

NO MASK = NO CUSTODY, from the Sun-Sentinel.

Melanie Joseph wants to see her son, but a judge won’t let her — for no reason except that she won’t wear a mask. Joseph’s 14-year-old son has asthma, a condition that could put him at risk of contracting COVID-19 during this pandemic, court filings show. Broward Circuit Judge Dale Cohen called the mother an “anti-mask person” who had the “audacity” to brag about it on Facebook. Conservatives take issue with the decision, but it illustrates how judges in family court now must consider the health risks of COVID-19 on top of juggling the interests of feuding ex-spouses, single parents and reluctant child-support payers.

If you are facing a similar situation, we can help you. Feel free to contact us to schedule a complimentary consultation, as soon as possible.
