Two coverages on your auto policy sound alike but protect opposite sides of a crash.

Bodily injury (BI) coverage pays if you hurt someone else — it compensates the people you injured and protects your assets.

UM/UIM coverage protects you. If the driver who hits you has no insurance, or too little to cover your injuries, your own uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage steps in to compensate you.

The catch: many drivers carry high BI limits but choose much lower UM/UIM limits, not realizing they've protected everyone but themselves. You can generally set UM/UIM limits equal to your bodily injury limits — the choice that protects you and your family.

One year ago today, we lost our founding partner, Jerry J. Dasti.

Jerry founded our firm in 1984 and spent four decades serving Ocean County: as an advocate for his clients, representing government entities across New Jersey, and as a mentor to the attorneys who followed him. His service extended far beyond the law. At Ocean County College, he served as trustee, treasurer, and finance chairman, and ultimately as Chair of the Board of Trustees—a role he held with great pride. In Lacey Township, he coached youth soccer for over 20 years, basketball for over 15 years, and Little League for over 12 years. He was president of the CSM Robert Gallagher Charitable Foundation and the Lacey Township Chamber of Commerce, and a member of St. Joseph’s Endowment Committee.

His standard — prepare thoroughly, treat everyone with respect, and always put the client first — remains the standard at our firm today.

We miss him and are grateful for the foundation he built. Our thoughts are with Liz and the Dasti family today.
