Next week will be great for a client who was capriciously fired by the Mississippi Department of Transportation. After a full hearing at the Mississippi Personnel Board, he was awarded his job back with full back pay, and will be back to work before Christmas.
I hate employer abuse but enjoy righting wrongs done to Mississippians.

Today was another successful court day!
Thanks to an honorable County Prosecutor and a fair minded Hinds County Court Judge, my client's case was dismissed. My client traveled from Texas and won't have to make that expensive trip again.
Note to law enforcement officers: You can't leave your prosecutor hanging! If you make the charge, you have to make the court date.
(Of course, I hope you skip when it's a case I'm defending.)

The state offered to remand a charge against a client “to the file.” Essentially, the charge sits in abayence for six months.
Normally, I’d jump on that deal. But when my client could lose his job with that, I can’t take it. (The ‘victim’ was trying to get my client fired.)
So we tried the case before a great judge, and my client was found not guilty.
Some days are good days!

Though I never had the privilege of meeting him in person, I greatly admired Professor Gershon. He was a gentleman. I appreciate him having me on his show on Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
