Traffic is flowing just fine in downtown Florence, despite the construction on the overpass over McFarland Road (Hwy 20). 😊 Just be prepared to merge right on O’Neal when heading north.

Friends, a dynamic line of storms will be pushing through our area tonight after dark. 75 mph (hurricane force) straight line winds and a few tornadoes are possible. Straight line winds can topple trees and power poles. Power outages are likely, and it will get cold behind the storms. Please secure your outdoor items, park away from trees, and stay safe. 🫶

Most of you know by now a line of severe thunderstorms will roll through Alabama late tomorrow night into the pre-dawn hours Monday.

Widespread wind damage is possible with the line along with a few tornadoes. Significant power outages are likely.

Snow flurries/showers are likely as cold air rolls into the state Monday.

Monday morning update: we are closed today.

Good afternoon, friends. It may be tomorrow (Monday) morning before I will know whether we can open the office tomorrow. More importantly, please bundle up and stay home if you can. The temperatures will be plummeting into dangerously cold territory overnight. Check on your elderly family members and neighbors. Bring your pets indoors, even a laundry room or enclosed garage. And if you lose power, please be aware of the proper safety measures when operating gas-powered generators and “indoor safe” propane heaters.

1/25/26 Noon Update- Road conditions have temporarily improved but will deteriorate later today as cold air moves in. Extremely thankful for our road and utilities crews working in the Waterloo area to clear roads and restore power. More than 1" of ice accumulation has been documented in areas west of Hwy 20. Remember, trees can and will continue to fall over the next several days. Let us take the pictures ; you stay safe indoors.
