A judge has stopped TPS for Venezuelans from coming to an end. We will have more information for our Venezuelan friends as soon as it becomes available.

If you are a Venezuelan TPS holder, you do not have to do anything at this time.

A federal judge is pausing plans by the Trump administration to end temporary legal protections for hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans, one week before they were set to expire.

What is asylum?

Asylum is a way for people to stay in the U.S. if they are in danger in their home country. To get asylum, a person must prove that they are in danger in their country for one of these reasons:

Their race (skin color or ethnic group); OR
Their religion; OR
They lived in a country where they were not born; OR
What they believe about the government in their country; OR
Being part of a certain group, like LGBTQ+ people or some other groups in danger.

Asylum is not for people just looking for a better life or escaping poverty—it's only for those who are truly in danger because of who they are or what they believe.
