These are some interesting statistics regarding self-checkout.

As an attorney, I frequently see individuals charged with theft after utilizing self-checkout. Most retailers have robust loss prevention technology designed to mitigate the risk of theft.

Self-checkout should never be viewed as an easy way to steal. The consequences of being charged with theft can be substantial, including fines and/or jail time, along with difficulty finding employment.
