New rules on team names, advertising & marketing guidelines (effective May 2027)

The South Carolina Real Estate Commission has released official guidance regarding real estate team names. The Real Estate Commission regulates real estate brokers, associates, and property managers. The Commission also administers the registration of timeshare projects and out-of-state subdivided land sales being marketed in South Carolina.

Great news to share…

It’s been a busy week, but we are proud to have had two P*e Dee REALTORS® representing our association at Session 5 of the South Carolina REALTORS® Leadership Academy! 🏡💙
Thomas Blackmon with Coldwell Banker attended as a member of the 2026 Leadership Academy class, while Keon Aldrich, Team Lead of The P*e Dee Elite Team brokered by LPT Realty, served in her role as Vice Chair and will step into the role of Chair in 2027!
Session 5 was packed with valuable experiences! Day One included hearing from Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann and representatives from LLR, who shared valuable insight on leadership, public service, licensing, and regulation.
Day Two was especially impactful as the class sat in on the South Carolina Real Estate Commission and heard real cases involving real estate professionals. Seeing the Commission in action was a powerful reminder of the responsibility that comes with holding a real estate license and the importance of professionalism, ethics, and protecting the public.
The Leadership Academy is about more than developing leaders—it’s about gaining knowledge, building relationships, and bringing those experiences back home to strengthen our associations and our industry.
