Florence County Property Tax bills are out and most people will have an increase in their tax.
2024 is a re assessment year, happens every 5 years, the cap the county can increase is 15% for the five-year period. The good news is according to the National Association of REALTORS if you bought a home in South Carolina in 2020 its valve has increased 55.9%. If you bought your home in the last 5 years you tax was calculated with a formula based on the sales price.
Where does the money go? If you live in Florence School District 1:
73% to schools and school bonds
10% to City of Florence (if you live in the city)
15% to Florence County
1.31% to Florence Darlington TEC
