“Move-in ready” gets thrown around a lot in real estate… but what that actually means can vary wildly from one listing to the next.
To some agents, it simply means the home is clean and functional. To buyers, it often means updated, well-maintained, and ready without immediate projects or surprise expenses.
Before you schedule a showing based on those three words alone, here are a few things worth paying attention to:
✔️ Are the major systems updated? (roof, HVAC, windows, water heater)
✔️ Is it truly move-in ready… or just freshly painted?
✔️ Have renovations actually been done well?
✔️ Will you still need to budget for repairs or updates shortly after moving in?
A home can absolutely be a great fit without being fully updated. The key is knowing the difference before you fall in love with the listing photos.
