Most people have never heard of a mortgage recast, but it’s a strategy worth knowing about.

Putting 20% down doesn’t always mean you’re getting the best deal. Sometimes putting less down initially, then making a lump-sum payment and recasting your mortgage, could work out in your favor.

Of course, there are a few moving parts, including mortgage insurance, fees, and loan requirements.

That’s why I always encourage buyers to look at more than just the interest rate. There may be options you haven’t considered.

This was definitely a special closing. This one hit different. Hundreds of closings and a decade in the real estate world; this was a first. While driving to finish the final paperwork at the closing table I couldn’t help but think about how special it is to work with and help friends from our home town in Iowa purchase property here in our new home of Florida. Surreal.
