This accident happened in 2021, but the dangers are still very present. If you have a young adult in a dangerous trade, or if you are the young adult, please contact me for the FOUR documents you need to have in place before something like this happens. I'm an estate planning attorney for Washington State residents. If you live outside Washington, see an estate planning attorney in your state. Oh, and a Will would be a good idea too - that's the FIFTH document.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Eli Nathaniel Babb, of Kellyton, and Layton River Ellison, of Alexandria. The accident happened about 10:30 a.m. in the 7300 block of Johns Road while they were working on lines in Adger.

From the Federal Way Public Market:

Dear Friends, Allies, Neighbors, and potential Vendors,

We have made so much progress in the past year! Not only did our 30th District State Legislators fight passionately to secure $77,000 in funding, we began working with the State Department of Commerce to put that funding into our feasibility study. We signed the contract with Aaron Zaretsky, the internationally recognized expert in public markets. Aaron served as the Director of Seattle's Pike Place Market for 15 years after it was saved from development in the late 1970s. Aaron brought with him his business partner, Mark Ernst, who designed Bellevue's Downtown Park early in his career. That feasibility study is nearing completion – and it looks GOOD!

GiveBIG donors to Federal Way Public Market will get early access to the feasibility study when it comes out end of June. You can donate right here!

But we have so much more to do! And that’s where you come in. We are expanding our community outreach, and we will be going to festivals, fairs, and celebrations all over South King County. Even more important, and to demonstrate our commitment to seeing the Farmers Market continue, we will have a booth at the Federal Way Farmers Market at least once a month! It has long been our plan that the Federal Way Public Market will become the permanent home of the Farmers Market, once we are constructed.

But we can’t get there without your help!

Federal Way Public Market is going to make a huge, positive difference for our community. And it is happening from the grassroots up. Federal Way Public Market is a nonprofit organization started up by long-time local people who live and work in our community, and who want something more than big box stores. We want to share, under one roof, the community, culture, creativity and connections of our wonderfully diverse area.

We’ve grown slowly and organically, but now we need YOU. We need your investment, whether it is a $10 donation or a $1,000 donation, it goes into our efforts for planning, research, outreach, and organizing.

Your investment in Federal Way Public Market shows political leaders that you value public spaces; that you value locally-owned shops and restaurants; that you value diversity of offerings, dining, and experiences. Your investment in Federal Way Public Market shows that you want a safe, welcoming place to visit, to take your friends and family, and to celebrate.

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

On this Giving Tuesday, imagine a place where people gather, and our regional community thrives; a place that nurtures small businesses and trains potential entrepreneurs for success. This is the vision of the Federal Way Public Market, and we need your support to make it a reality.

For nearly four years, a group worked to create a vision for Federal Way* and the South Sound region to have its own public market joining a movement that brings together locally produced, locally crafted, locally made, locally harvested, locally grown crafts, art, food products, beverages, meats and cheeses, with locally owned restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, entertainers, and more, all under one roof.

Like the explosive growth in Farmers Markets in Washington over the past 30 years, there are now 8 Public Markets in the greater Pacific Northwest, up from just two in the 1980s.

Why the Federal Way Public Market Matters:
South Sound Community Connection: A vibrant space where people can gather, fostering stronger bonds and a sense of belonging.

Local & Regional Economy: Supporting local businesses and creating opportunities for new entrepreneurs.

Health and Wellness: Providing access to fresh, locally grown produce and promoting healthier lifestyles.
Cultural Celebration: Hosting events and activities that celebrate the diverse fabric of our community.

Last winter, our legislators awarded us $77,000 for our feasibility study. We hired Aaron Zaretsky, the long-time manager of Pike Place Market who is now an internationally recognized expert in public markets, and his business partner, Mark Ernst who helped design Bellevue’s Downtown Park. We’ve been working with elected officials and Sound Transit, in hopes of locating near the new light rail station.

How You Can Make a Difference:
1) Donate: Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to our goal. Click here to make your gift today.

2) Share: Spread the word about the Federal Way Public Market with your friends, family, and with your friends, family, and social networks.

3) Volunteer: Join our team and help with events, outreach, and more. Your time and talents are invaluable to us.

Together, we can create a place that enriches our lives and strengthens our community. Let us make the Federal Way Public Market a cornerstone of our city, County, and region - a place where we can all come together and thrive.

Thank you for your generosity and support,

Roger Flygare

Do you know anyone in Florida affected by the hurricane(s) that might be missing a ring given to them when they were 18 years old? Reach out to this man to describe it & set up a meeting to get back:

A man in Florida is looking for the owner of a ring found inside a black jewelry box with a note after Hurricanes Helene and Milton ravaged the coastal communities.

Now that we're almost back-to-school, is your daughter is looking for a social group where they have TONS of FUN, learn leadership skills, and do good work in their community? I'm an adult advisor for a local chapter of an international girls organization. Our membership age range is 11-20, and our pledge group (little sistes) are 5-11.

In addition to regular meetings 2x a month, the girls have movie nights, hikes, sleepovers, camping trips, and they perform volunteer work in their communities and across the state. This summer, some of our girls built an outdoor pavillion as a senior member's project, with the assistance of women construction contractors. If the girls have school service hours required for graduation, our service projects will usually fulfill those requirements.

The girls learn leadership, public speaking, event planning, and communication skills. We have an annual convention in the summer that is the ultimate "can't miss' event of the year! (I have pictures of the last couple of years.) They also have opportunities to travel to other states, meet other girls, and share experiences.

We have rewards girls can earn during the year for activities attended and service rendered. They can choose to run for elected offices, they can be appointed or elected to state offices, and we have an award that's given to girls and adults that exhibit outstanding service.

If this sounds intriguing to you, I invite you and your daughter to contact me for more information. We have some events coming up this fall & we'd love to have you and your daughter join us for some fun & friendship.

Hi Facebook Friends!

I'm AnnMichelle Hart - Board member for our Federal Way Public Market.

Earlier this year we secured state funding for our feasible study slated to begin this month.

Part of the study includes showing how much public support there is for a public market in the region.

We are thankful for those of you who've been following along as we ramped up these last few years - and now is GO TIME.

If you like the idea of our public market, now is the time to show it.

We are seeking letters of support for the Federal Way Public Market, which will help in a big way to create a healthy environment that will be walkable and situated close to the light rail station.

Please address your letter to:

AnnMichelle Hart, Chief of Staff
FEDERAL WAY PUBLIC MARKET
1815 SW Campus Dr

If you prefer to email your support, please send it to our president, ROGER FLYGARE at: [email protected]

Thank you so much.
We are grateful for your support.

Sincerely,
AnnMichelle
