The Press Release Got It Wrong

The phrase everyone is quoting from the new USCIS memo is not actually in the memo. As an immigration attorney, I want to clear this up.
The USCIS press release said adjustment of status would be granted, quote, only in extraordinary circumstances, end quote. That phrase is in news coverage, social media, even some attorney commentary.
That exact phrase does not appear in the body of the operative memo. It came from the press release. Officers do not apply press releases. They apply the policy text.
The operative text is more nuanced than the headline. Cases can still be approved. The bar moved β€” it did not collapse.

USCIS Just Changed Green Card Rules

USCIS just changed the rules on adjustment of status. I am an immigration attorney. Let me explain what this actually means for your case.
On May twenty-first, 2026, USCIS issued Policy Memo PM-602-0199. The agency now treats adjustment of status as discretionary β€” meaning eligibility is no longer enough. Officers must separately decide whether you deserve a green card from inside the United States.
What changed is the standard of preparation. What did not change is whether you can file. You can. But the bar moved.
If you are filing, have a case pending, or have received any USCIS notice since this memo, the next step is a free consultation. My number is 508-500-1551 or the link BELOW.

Voting as a non-citizen can get you deported. Here's why.

I need every undocumented immigrant and every green card holder watching this to hear me clearly: do not vote in any federal or state election in the United States. It is a federal crime under U.S. law for any non-citizen to vote in a federal election, and most states also prohibit non-citizens from voting in state and local elections. If you vote β€” even by mistake, even if someone told you it was okay, even if you were registered without realizing it at the DMV β€” USCIS can use that against you. For green card holders, voting illegally is a deportable offense and it will almost always result in your naturalization application being denied on good moral character grounds. For undocumented immigrants, it can permanently bar you from ever getting legal status in this country. And here's the trap a lot of people fall into: when you renew your driver's license, you may be asked if you want to register to vote. Always say no. If you're ever unsure whether you accidentally registered or voted, call an immigration attorney before you file anything with USCIS. Don't risk your entire future for one ballot.
