Hydrangeas at Battleship Cove

The first photo is of the hydrangeas this summer at Battleship Cove. This grouping is to the right and coming off the footbridge and directly to the right in front along the water. As we have mentioned earlier this spring, Mr LaLima, who resides in Westport, wants to and does beautify Fall River by these plantings - about 42 bushes he planted himself.
The hydrangea in the second photo are in front and to the right of the Carousel building. A few FRGC members met in April and tolerated a blustery, cool day to help Mr LaLima cut back and thin out the bushes to bring in air and give more light to the center of each bush. The hydrangeas soften the landscape at Battleship Cove and add beauty to this area and the City as well.
Enjoy the photos…Sandy Elliott

Thank you to all who volunteered!

Gifts were added to the bottom and raffle tickets go on sale on Friday October 9 at Araujo's.

There will be 18 trees beautifully designed by local non-profit organizations that support our communities.

Hope to see you all there!

What a fabulous day for a fall walk through the Tattapanum Trail. North Fall River! It is about a mile long and filled with Birch, Hickory, Pine, Chestnut, Holly, Sour Gum, Oak, Maple, Ash, Spruce, Ironwood, Dogwood, and Cedar trees as well as ferns and berry-laden bushes. There are beautiful views of the North Watuppa Pond and Fairy Gardens and ground and tree mushrooms. There are remnants of an ancient stone cartway and a dense spruce garden. We were fortunate to be able to find many distinctive leaves and acorns and other nuts.
A special thanks to Sandra who started us off with historic information about Princess Weetamoe, daughter of Chief Massasoit, who lived in these woods as the first female Sachem.
Also another special thank you to Jim at watuppareserve.com who provided us with Trail Maps.
