Going to court after a car accident in West Virginia can feel overwhelming.

But knowing what to expect makes a difference.

Most personal injury cases never make it to trial. They are often resolved through negotiations with insurance companies. But if a fair settlement is not offered, your case may go to court.

Hereโ€™s what you need to know:

First, your attorney will file a lawsuit and begin the discovery process. This is where both sides gather evidence, review medical records, and take depositions.

Next, there may be mediation or settlement discussions. Even after a lawsuit is filed, many cases are still resolved before trial.

If your case does go to court, a judge or jury will hear the evidence and decide the outcome. This includes determining who was at fault and how much compensation you should receive.

The process can take time, but you donโ€™t have to go through it alone.

At Manchin Injury Law Group, we prepare every case as if itโ€™s going to trial. That means building strong evidence, protecting your rights, and fighting for the result you deserve.

What happens if a teen driver causes your accident?

You still have rights.

In West Virginia, teen drivers are held to the same standards as adults. If they caused the crash, they can be held responsible. In many cases, their parents may also be financially liable, especially if they own the vehicle or provide the insurance.

Most teen drivers are covered under a household policy, which is often the first source of compensation.

And if the teen broke licensing rules like passenger limits or phone restrictions, that can strengthen your case.

These cases can get complicated quickly, but you do not have to figure it out alone.

At Manchin Injury Law Group, we investigate every detail and fight to help you pursue the compensation you deserve.

In West Virginia, police accident reports are generally public. However, your medical records, insurance details, and settlement terms are private and protected.

That distinction matters.

Insurance companies look for opportunities to use your statements, records, and even social media activity against you. What you say and when you say it can directly impact your case.

Do not let your personal information work against you. Give a call if you have questions. We are here to help.
